Choice of Dish
I chose to make Fish Porridge Soup as my dish. This idea came from my mum, who cooks porridge whenever I was ill. I always enjoyed the meal, and it was the first dish that came to my mind while planning.
In the Task Analysis, I mentioned that my sister likes soup. Hence, making Fish Porridge Soup would be fine for her.
Modification/Substitution of Ingredients
I added more vegetables to make the dish more healthy. Instead of using white rice, I decided to use the healthier brown rice. It also gives the dish an interesting look.
Recipe
Ingredients:
-1/2 cup brown rice
-3 cups of water
-1/2 carrot
-4 thin slices of ginger
-1/4 fish fillet
-1 garlic
-spring onions
-1 tomato
-fried shallots
-1 tablespoon of oil
-1 teaspoon of chicken stock
Procedure:
1) Cut the garlic into fine pieces.
2) Cut the fish into small slices.
3) Wash the rice.
4) Turn on the fire and pour 1 tablespoon of oil in.
5) Add the garlic and wait until it turns brown.
6) Add the rice and water.
7) Add the chicken stock.
8) Leave the pot alone and cut the ginger into thin slices.
9) Cut the carrot into small pieces.
10) Cut tomatoes into big slices.
11) Cut the spring onions.
12) When the rice is cooked, add in the ginger and carrot and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
13) Add the fish and wait for it to cook. This should take only seconds.
14) Add the tomato and turn off the fire.
15) Pour the soup into a bowl and sprinkle spring onions and fried shallot over it.
